Our Mission

East Harlem Scholars Academies are public charter schools that prepare students with the skills, strength of character and emotional well-being to excel academically, lead in their communities and realize their best possible selves.

Our Schools

What started more than 60 years ago as a reading group in the living room of a community leader has grown into a multi-dimensional educational program that includes five charter schools. East Harlem Scholars Academies are committed to providing youth in the neighborhood with the academic excellence and supports needed to thrive. Join us!

Our Beliefs

All children can and will succeed when provided a great education. We challenge our students with a demanding academic program, and challenge ourselves to examine issues of racism and identity and model the learning and dialogue needed to ensure a more equitable future for young people of color.  Our Impact

East Harlem Tutorial Program is committed to serving 25 percent of East Harlem children by 2025, and East Harlem Scholars Academies are contributing more and more to that goal. Our two elementary schools and two middle schools serve more than 950 students from Pre-K through 8th grade, and our first-ever high school is opening its doors this fall. Our high school Scholars will also benefit from the success of our renowned after-school and summer programs, which are available to students as they develop their college plans.
